EDUCATION

Sri Meikandaar Matriculation School

Education is a basic human right that can revolutionize rural communities. While increasing numbers of children are enrolled in school, the standard of education in government schools and rural communities is often low, as qualified teachers are hesitant to work in rural schools.

Situated at the heart of a rural area Sri Meikandaar Matriculation School provides Education to more than 700 students of the neighbourhood . Transport facilities are provided to children from deeper rural sections. The school has a team of teachers and support staff who are committed to providing children from Mannachanallur with private school quality education at affordable costs. We hold children to a high standard, challenging them to develop reading, mathematics, English, reasoning and problem solving skills.

School Success
Natarajan is the first to graduate in a family that has been illiterate for generations. His path to graduation was not easy. He started his schooling at Sri Meikandaar Matriculation School at the age of 4. From the beginning he was a bright student. Under the guidance of caring teachers, he grew up into a brilliant student with excellent manners.

When Natarajan was in 6th standard, his family had a financial crisis and his parents decided to shift him to a government high school. When Natarajan’s parents informed the school office of their decision, the teachers were saddened. Natarajan had been such a dedicated student and government schools were severely under resourced. No one could know what effect the shift might have on the young boy. Instead of accepting his shift, the management offered to waive his tuition fees and get his the required books from publishing companies free of cost.

So with the schooling expenses, cut down to a minimum, his parents consented allowing him to continue at Meikandaar School. In spite of these arrangements, Natarajan was required to work part time to meet the financial costs of his personal expenses. So, when Natarajan was studying in 9th standard, he started working part time to pay for his food and notebooks.

In due course, he entered 10th standard, the fate-fixing year in any student’s life. He had to face his board exams, so he put all his time and energy into studying. The school helped him make the most out of his efforts by helping him after school and work. They accommodated, by even letting him study in the quiet and safety of the school campus into the late night. The teachers guided him in all his subjects and he sat the exams with confidence. He came first in the entire school with a score of 87%.
His high marks allowed him easy entrance into one of Trichy’s higher secondary schools.

His hard work and support from his parents and teachers were worthwhile. Today Natarajan is an engineer.
